Praktica IV    Tessar 2.8 50mm

My Praktica IV was my first serious camera. If my memory serves me correctly, I bought it through the barber who had a chair in the Union building at Newcastle University (then Newcastle University College) at Tighes Hill. This was probably 1962. He was a knowledgeable amateur photographer who was happy to pass on that knowledge.

I also bought a 135mm telephoto lens and later, in London, a not-too-good wide angle lens.

It came with a classic 50mm Tessar that was crisp and sharp.
